The flag of Finland (Finnish: Suomen lippu, Swedish: Finlands flagga), commonly known as "Siniristilippu" in Finnish, has a straightforward yet symbolic design. It features a blue Nordic cross on a white background. The blue represents the country's thousands of lakes and its proximity to the sea, signifying the nation's connection to nature and its maritime heritage. The white background represents the snow that blankets the country during the long winters and symbolizes purity, peace, and unity. The blue Nordic cross also pays homage to Finland's Nordic neighbors and reflects its geographical location in Northern Europe. The flag was officially adopted in 1918, when Finland gained independence from Russia, and is a powerful emblem of the nation's identity, natural beauty, and historical journey to sovereignty.

The coat of arms of Finland features a red shield with a sword-wielding golden lion at its center, surrounded by nine silver roses. The red shield represents bravery and valor, symbolizing Finland's historical resilience and determination in the face of adversity. The crowned lion on the red shield is a reference to Finland's historical status as a Grand Duchy under Russian rule and an ancient symbol of courage, strength, and royalty, representing Finland's historical ties to the Kingdom of Sweden. Also, the sword-wielding golden lion embodies courage and strength, signifying the nation's readiness to defend its sovereignty and independence. The nine silver roses are stylized representations of the heraldic roses of Finland and serve as a symbol of the country's historical provinces. Together, these elements make up a coat of arms that reflects Finland's historical journey from Swedish and Russian dominions to its independence and sovereignty, reflecting the country's rich heritage and national pride.

Wikipedia has updated the flag with the blue cross becoming a darker shade of blue as the shade originally used was incorrect. According to Finnish flag laws, the closest Pantone approximation to the shade of blue used is 294 C, which in RGB is #002F6C.
